About Us

Here at Steadlands Lighting & Sound all our hire stock is carefully selected for its high-performance and professional qualities and most importantly the ease of use for our customers, we like to make life easy for you if we can.  We know our customer base well, over time we have gained the understanding that customers want and need hassle free and easy to use equipment, but at the same time keep a professional look and a very competitive low price.

We don’t baffle you with technical jargon, or expect you to know exactly what equipment you need to fulfil your requirements.  Talk to our hire department, explain your needs and we’ll do the rest. Whether you need some basic lighting for a school show or just fancy something to create the party mood with our uplighters, then we can most certainly help you out in one way or another.

Over the past 2 years we have worked with various new customers with a wide range of technical requirements from the lighting of domestic garage parties to full scale commercial production cover for large scale boxing events and everything in-between and with over 10 years experience in live events we’ve seen just about everything the entertainment industry can throw at us.

Steadlands Lighting & Sound has provided technical services and hires to many customers over the past couple of years, we tend aim at a very niche market but we always welcome new opportunities.  Many of our customers are small businesses, small event organisers, freelance technicians, school teachers and are within both the public and commercial sectors. We provide hire equipment for live events including dance competitions, school shows and festivities, weddings, house parties and touring theatre plus more – Surprise us with something new.

Free Basic Training with every hire!

Steadlands Lighting & Sound offer free basic operator/setup training on all hire equipment at time of collection, this helps you get up and running quickly once your back at your venue.  It’s the perfect opportunity to see how all the equipment works and to chance to ask questions.

*All uplighters are supplied with a full battery charge. Battery life is estimated to last between 8-12 hours, this depends on how your using the lights either it be static white colour (8 hrs) or colour chases(12hrs). Included in the kit is the charging cables to allow you gain a full charge in only 5 hours. Use the small linking cables provided and plug into a 13amp socket.

* radio microphones are professional grade and therefore are not licence free in the UK. We can arrange the required amount of licences for you if need be, each licence costs £12.00 per day.  If you already have a licence in place with Ofcom, then we don’t need to gain another licence schedule for you.

 

Additional Power and DMX Cabling.

 

We have various cable lengths and configurations available to accompany your equipment hire, to many too list.  All hire equipment comes complete with the minimum requirements to make your hired equipment work out the box. If you know the distances between the control position and the lighting stands for example, then we can supply additional cabling to allow for this.  We do try and keep extra cable costs to a minimum, but additional costs may apply. Please ask at the time of booking.

Frequently Asked Questions.

Q- Hi, I need some help, something’s not working right.

 

If you’re having a little trouble with the equipment you hired from Steadlands then don’t panic. You can call the office during normal working hours and ask for free help and guidance. If it’s out hours and it’s an urgent matter you can call us on 07920 773 217 – it’s helpful if you can text first, this gives us the opportunity to find somewhere quiet to talk.

Q- Can Steadlands deliver and collect my hired equipment?

 

Unfortunately, this isn’t something we currently offer.  We can arrange for local courier service to deliver and collect your hire booking for an additional charge if you wish.

Q- How big a car do I need to transport hire equipment?

 

The biggest of items are the flightcases which store four of the LED lights for storage and transportation. One case is rather large and is probably best securely strapped into a van if you need more than one lighting kit.  If you have a big enough 4×4/SUV type car, for example a Nissan Qashqai with the rear seats down, then you can fit in 1 flightcase.  Yamaha portable PA system should fit in a large car boot.  The longest item is the lighting stands at 2m long.

Q- Insurance

 

You need insurance to hire equipment.  You need to check with your insurance company that you are covered for loss and damage of hired equipment.  We will request that you produce proof of insurance either in person or via email at the time of booking.  On collection day, you will need to bring with you two forms of identification-  passport or driving licence and utility bill are acceptable. We will securely store copies of your insurance and ID on file for the duration of you hire.

Q- Can I extend my hire period if I already have the equipment?

 

Yes – well sometimes, if the equipment is available and not already allocated to the next customer. If this is the case, we can simply extend your hire period and take additional payment over the phone or in our office. Your insurance may also need to be notified of the extended hire period.

 

Terms and Conditions

 

Prices quoted or advertised are all subject to changes without prior notice.  Prices include VAT unless otherwise stated.

 

Hire durations are calculated by inclusive days between agreed start and end date.  Collection times are 11am each working day and returns must be completed by 3pm each working day unless prior arrangement has been made.  Weekend collections and returns must be pre-arranged and are within strict time slots.

 

Equipment offered for hire is on the very strict understanding that you, the hirer remains fully responsible for the equipment at all times and until all equipment its returned or collected by Steadlands or by an agreed collection service.  As the hirer, you are responsible for obtaining adequate insurance to cover against loses and damages during the agreed hire period.

 

Hire bookings should be confirmed to Steadlands in writing by the hirer, prior to period of hire. Bookings must clearly state the billing name, address, contact numbers of the hirer and the name, address of the location of the equipment during the agreed hire period.

 

You the hirer will be required to pay for the hire invoice in full before the agreed hire period starts, you will also be required to produce two forms of adequate personal identification and payment debit card of which will be charged accordingly if hired equipment is failed to be returned. Completing full payment of the invoice is also acceptance of the terms and conditions.

 

Loss or damage of equipment will be charged at the new replacement value and any additional VAT charges that may apply.

 

In cases where the choice of equipment is made by you the hirer the equipment shall be supplied in the good faith that the hirer is aware of the uses and limitations of that equipment, and no responsibility can be accepted if it later proves inappropriate for your requirements.

 

In the rare occasion that a cancellation is required by the hirer at short notice, cancellation charges may occur as follows: -less than 72 hours 10% of total hire charges, less than 48 hours 20% of total hire charges, less than 24 hours 30% of the total hire charges, same day or after the agreed hire date 100% of the hire charges shall be charged. Cancellation charges are subject to VAT and any delivery charges which may apply.

 

Payment methods and terms, hire and sales payments can be made by debit card, bank transfer or cash, all methods are subject to VAT. If paying in cash, you must provide an alternative debit card payment method in case that equipment loss or damage costs should occur. Debit card details will be held securely until all hired equipment is return and in good condition. If the hirer fails to return equipment within the agreed dates or equipment is returned in an unusable condition Steadlands has the right to charge for loss or damages of the hired equipment. The hirer will be informed of this decision prior to been charged the full replacement value costs including VAT charges.

 

Payment of invoice automatically accepts that you agree to terms and conditions.
